Assembling a shisha – no problem with these instructions

Shisha zusammenbauen – Mit dieser Anleitung kein Problem

When you buy a shisha for the first time, you want to try it out straight away. You unpack it and are first faced with a few individual parts that have to be assembled. As a newbie to shisha, you usually don't know where to start and if the manufacturer doesn't provide instructions, you're at a loss.

We will guide you step by step through the correct construction of a shisha. It's best to first get an overview of the different individual parts by laying them out next to each other.

The smoke base is the center of the shisha

The first step is to attach all hose adapters and valves to the smoke base. The base is the middle part to which the hose or possibly several hoses will later be connected. Then you devote yourself to the column of smoke. It is often referred to as a smoke pipe and is attached above the base using a thread or plug connection.

Connect the water pipe to the shisha bowl

The base assembled with the smoke column is now connected to the water pipe or immersion pipe, which is attached to the underside of the base. The name water or immersion pipe comes from the fact that it protrudes a bit into the water of the bowl .

This then clarifies the next step, in which you connect the frame consisting of the base, smoke column and water pipe to the bowl. There is either a thread for this or, in more modern shishas , often a click system, in which the dip tube is firmly anchored to the bowl with just one turn. With traditional shishas you will use a rubber seal for attachment. Only fill the bowl with water so that the dip tube protrudes a maximum of 2-3 cm into the water. Modern immersion pipes usually have a diffuser that cools the water and makes the shisha a little quieter. This is screwed on to immersion pipes with a thread, such as those you find on stainless steel hookahs. For dip tubes without threads, a diffuser with a rubber seal or an elastic silicone diffuser is used.

Molasses catcher - yes or no?

The next step depends on whether you have a hookah with a bowl cut for a molasses catcher or not. The molasses catcher is a glass vessel that is intended to catch excess molasses from the head so that it does not run into the smoke column and cause contamination.

If no molasses catcher is attached, simply place the charcoal plate on the smoke column so that the thread protrudes from the plate hole and then attach the head adapter. If your hookah has a molasses catcher bowl, place the charcoal plate on the lower part of the head adapter and then screw it together with the upper part of the head adapter so that the charcoal plate is in the middle. Then you can connect the head adapter and plate to your smoke column and attach the tobacco bowl to the head adapter.

Tube spring and tube holder for a comfortable smoking experience

The tube spring is a little must have. It prevents the hose from kinking. This not only extends the life of your shisha hose, but also ensures that you always have a good draft. To ensure that the tube spring sits firmly, attach it to the lower end of the silicone tube and then attach the tube to the base as normal using the adapter.

The hose holder is the ideal little helper when you want to take a short smoke break. This means that the question of where is the safest way to put the mouthpiece is a thing of the past. A hose holder is usually a small metal hook that you can attach to the base. You can then attach your mouthpiece there or clamp the hose and it is out of the way.

Now all you have to do is build a bowl with your favorite tobacco and the shisha session can begin!
